COMPUTER COURSES

Glenroy Neighbourhood Learning Centre offers computer courses for beginners to more advanced users.

Computers for Beginners – Computer Basics and Microsoft Word

This program is an introduction for beginners to develop confidence in using a computer. They will learn to use the computer in a friendly and supportive environment. Students will learn the basic functions of the computer. They will develop skills to use Microsoft Word (creating, formatting and saving documents) as well as using the internet and email.

Students enrolled in this course will participate in one, three hour, class per week. 

Friday  9:30am - 12:30pm

Computers for Beginners – Microsoft PowerPoint

Students will learn how to create PowerPoint presentations, including formatting and special effects as well as using pictures, videos and sound.

Students enrolled in this course will participate in only one, three hour, class per week. 

Monday  9:00am - 12:00pm

Tuesday 9:30am - 12:30pm

Keyboarding Skills and Touch Typing

This course will give students an orientation to the computer keyboard and its functions and an introduction to touch keyboarding and touch-typing skills as well as time saving keyboarding techniques such as short cuts.  

Students enrolled in this course will participate in both, two hour, classes each week so they have regular and consistent practice and will be able to consolidate their typing skills.

Tuesday  1:00pm – 3:00pm
Friday 1:00pm – 3:00pm

English and Computers for Job Seekers (available in term 3)

Students will develop an understanding of how to look for work in Australia and the literacy and computer skills to complete a resume, cover letter, online application etc. They will learn interview techniques and learn about culture and conditions in Australian workplaces.

Students enrolled in this course will participate in only one, three hour, class per week.
